Sharing the Joy of Jesus on the Journey

Tree of Love:  Available November 13 through December 11
Each holiday season, the Tree of Love is placed in the large Sunday School room for us to decorate with items for those in need.  As in previous years, things most needed include hats, gloves, scarves, mittens, and all babywear.  Sweatshirts and flannel PJ bottoms in all sizes, children and adult alike, are also most welcome.  All items must be newly purchased or lovingly handmade.  Please join St. Paul’s by filling the Tree of Love to provide warmth and comfort for those in need.

Hot Chocolate Outreach: Friday, 12/2 and Saturday, 12/3
During Late Night Shoppers on Friday, December 2, and the Victorian Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 3, we will gather in front of The Robin’s Nest Boutique on Market Street. We will spend some time in our community, as we greet our neighbors with a cup of warm cocoa. Sign-ups are available today on the bulletin board (which has been moved to the wall near the bathrooms). Volunteers are needed in both early evening and later evening shifts on Friday, as well as one shift on Saturday. During this outreach, conversations will be enjoyed and invitations to join St. Paul’s through December for worship, fellowship, and outreach will be shared. Marshmallows and candy canes will also be available!

Poinsettia Orders: Due by Wednesday, December 7
Christmas poinsettias may be ordered by completing an order form in today’s bulletin or calling the church office. Each traditional red poinsettia costs $10 and may be given in honor or memory of loved ones. Poinsettias will be displayed in worship December 18, Christmas Eve, and Christmas morning. Orders may be placed through Wednesday, December 7.

Selinsgrove Center Christmas Party: Wednesday, December 7
The Annual Christmas Party for residents of the Selinsgrove Center will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00PM. This year we will be providing refreshments and gift bags for 19 women. If you would like to make a contribution toward this ministry, please place your donation in an envelope marked “Selinsgrove Center” and place in the offering plate or give to Pastor Judi. A sign-up is available on the bulletin board for those willing to help with the party. If you wish to carpool, please meet at St. Paul’s at 6:15PM or meet in the Selinsgrove Center lobby at 6:45PM. Please contact the church office with any transportation concerns. Those attending the party are encouraged to dress festively!

St. Paul’s Family Christmas Dinner: Sunday, December 11
We will host a family Christmas dinner at 12:00noon on December 11. A veggie tray, marinated chicken breast, glazed ham, baked corn, green beans almandine, baby red potatoes, drinks, and dessert will be offered. Reservations, due December 4, may be made by calling the church office or by completing reservation forms in today’s bulletin or at the rear of the sanctuary. Everyone in the St. Paul’s Church family is encouraged to attend, so funds are available for those who would find the fee a hardship. Please contact Pastor Judi with your confidential request.

Christmas Caroling: Sunday, December 11
Join us for an afternoon of Christmas caroling with various homebound members of St. Paul’s. We plan to leave the church around 1:45PM, following the Christmas Dinner, and travel to Riverwoods Nursing Care Center where we will begin our journey. People of all ages and singing abilities are welcome to join in the fun as we offer others the joy of the season as we share the message of Christmas in song and relationship.

Christmas Cookies for D.T.A.: Due Sunday, December 11
We will again provide cookies for the boys of D.T.A., Diversified Treatment Alternatives, a residential facility for boys and teens in Lewisburg, who are unable to live with their families. LOTS of cookies are needed for the Christmas celebration the boys will enjoy with their families. In the past we have provided over 150 dozen cookies, so please bake an extra batch or two to share and bring them to the church Sunday, December 11.

RiverWoods 2011 Christmas Wish List: Due Sunday, 12/11
Each Christmas season, RiverWoods relies upon donations from the community to give gifts to each resident in the Nursing Care Center. Suggested donations include: boxes of tissues, body wash, deodorant, socks and slipper socks. Please keep in mind that while many residents are women, there are some residents who are men and they will also be receiving gifts. Items should not be gift wrapped. A collection box is located in the large Church School room near the clock. Please bring your items to St. Paul’s by Sunday, December 11, or deliver them to the Nursing Center’s front entrance by December 12.

RiverWoods Grande Illumination: Friday, December 16
St. Paul’s will again provide help with the Grande Illumination on Friday, December 16. While ten volunteers are needed from St. Paul’s, additional volunteers are welcome. Volunteers will gather at the RidgeCrest Café at 4:15PM and be given instructions at that time. Residents will join in the lighting of candle luminaries throughout the campus. A volunteer sign-up is on our bulletin board. The lighting will be completed by 5:30PM and refreshments will follow on the RiverWoods campus.

A reception will be held following the illumination in the RidgeCrest Commons between 6:30 and 8:00 PM with delicious food, beautiful music, and joyous fellowship. All are welcome to stay for the celebration!

Additional information regarding this “Night of One Thousand Candles” or how you may donate to this cause is available at the rear of the sanctuary. Questions may be directed to Pastor Judi.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship: Saturday, December 24
We will celebrate God’s generous gift of Jesus Christ, born in humble circumstances, yet Son of God with a CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT WORSHIP at 7:00PM Saturday, December 24. Join us for carols, the Christmas Story, candle-lighting, special music and more.

God’s gift of love is truly a gift for the world, so please invite friends and family members to join in the celebration! Childcare will be available.
